  • QTS – Maths

  • Lead practitioner accreditation

  • Advanced Level of Linguistic Competencies in English Certificate (Interpreter)

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

I am a lead practitioner for maths and I have been teaching at The Gateway Academy for 5 years. My journey to teaching started at The Gateway Academy, where I trained and qualified as a maths teacher. Within three years I progressed to being the Key stage 3 Coordinator for maths. As English is not my first language, I have really enjoyed being able to utilise my translating skills to welcome and support parents who struggle with English in meetings. These skills have also benefited the students as I have been able to teach maths in both English and Romanian, to ease the pressure for some of the EAL students. I am delighted to be able to support pupils in this way and as a result I have taken the opportunity to also teach Spanish at The Gateway Academy.

About Danielle

2 years

Qualifications

  • BA (Hons), Sport and Exercise Science & Physical Education, Christ Church University in Canterbury, Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Secondary PE and Maths

After completing my PGCE in Secondary PE and maths in 2018, I joined The Gateway Academy teaching staff team. Having been successful in my NQT year within both the maths and PE departments, in my second year of teaching I was able to consolidate my skills by producing and delivering a series workshops for the current NQTs, investigating research literature and professional models and fusing these with our classroom practices. This has been especially exciting at the moment due to remote learning, allowing us as professionals to examine the effectiveness of strategies and their impact on learning outcomes. Being relatively new to the teaching profession I feel that I have a fresh perspective whilst still being keen to learn from my more experienced colleagues. I am so passionate about the process of teaching and learning and although I have only been at The Gateway Academy a short time, I feel that I have grown so much as a teacher and that is down to the exceptional team that I am surrounded by.
